What You Need to Know About Oatmega Bars

Meet Oatmega

After I recently discovered that there was a protein bar that actually tasted like a sleeve of thin mints, my eyes were opened to a whole new world. As it turns out, Oatmega, the brand that makes the aforementioned chocolate mint protein bar, has several other flavors of protein bars available at Walmart—And, better yet? They’re all inspired by some of my (and I would assume your) favorite desserts.

And, tastebuds aside, the company is also doing a lot of good, not just for our stomachs but for the community, too. Here’s a summary of the things you should know about Oatmega:

They taste delicious

Did we mention that these things taste like dessert? Honestly, their Brownie Crisp Bar tastes like a fresh brownie. In fact, the four flavors they carry at Walmart are inspired by some of our favorite desserts:

Lemon Chia Crisp = a lemon poppyseed muffin
Chocolate Peanut Crisp = a Reese’s Cup
Chocolate Brownie Crisp = a brownie (duh.)
Chocolate Mint Crisp = Thin Mint cookies (No joke – they nailed this one.)

They’re really good for you

Every Oatmega bar is packed with powerful proteins and good-for-you ingredients like grass-fed whey protein, Omega-3’s, and chia seeds. In fact, every bar contains your healthy dose of Omega-3s, all derived from fish oil from responsibly-caught fish. They sweeten their bars with something called Monk Fruit – it’s apparently 200 times sweeter than sugar but, by some magical force, contains zero calories. Seriously. Zero.

They’re gluten-free

We think it’s safe to bet that you or at least 5 people that you know classify themselves as “gluten-free” or “gluten-intolerant.” All Oatmega Bars are gluten-free, which means you and/or your gluten-intolerant friends can enjoy the bars just as much as the rest of the world. And unlike some other gluten-free products, it doesn’t sacrifice any taste. (See point 1)

They give back

Oatmega’s business model is, “Heart first. Business Second. Nutrition Shared.” They give bars to local food banks, so you can feel good about what you’re putting into your body and what you’re putting back into the community. Talk about a win-win!

They’re available at Walmart

They’re not in the snack or dessert aisle like you might think! You can find them in the pharmacy section next to the protein, vitamins and supplements. So, what are you waiting for? Grab a box of each flavor and decide for yourself which is your favorite!
