A Ready-To-Wear Spring Lookbook of Outfit Ideas: Styled By The Editor-In-Chief of Aisle 9

If you’re like us, spring is one of those seasons where you might find yourself constantly asking, “But what should I wear…?” Transitioning from cozy to light layering can feel, well, awkward at times. Striking that delicate balance between pants v. shorts, or knowing how to prepare for a warm spurt in the afternoon + a brisk temp that night. We were inspired to create a resource that could come in clutch without breaking the bank, to not just get us through this season, but make it one that’s memorable. Enter: the Spring ‘22 Lookbook.

We sought to curate a full seasonal lookbook of ready-to-wear outfits that are easy, inspiring, and attainable to transition us from hibernation to spring. Of course, we tapped our Editor-In-Chief, Anna to see if she was up to the challenge. With more than a decade of professional experience in high fashion, her passion for styling + storytelling truly came through. She shared with us her tricks-of-the-trade behind curating this lookbook:

I really wanted these looks to feel attainable for anyone wanting to play with their style a bit this season. Curating a soulful wardrobe requires balance: a healthy blend of capsule, keepsake, and of-the-moment finds.

When looking for keepsake clothing that lasts, the real key is to overestimate their everyday wear: you want a pair of denim that won’t budge when the trend forecasts come in next year, and your sweater collection should effortlessly travel through the seasonal buffer months. But we don’t only subscribe to the capsule wardrobe. Incorporating in-the-moment pieces adds an edge + playfulness to your wardrobe. With this in mind, we decided to see if we could build off of our own wardrobe with pieces from Free Assembly x Scoop, exclusive lines featured on We’ve been inspired by their clothing lines before, but their latest drops especially had our attention. Curated, styled, vouched, and modeled by our fearless leader herself, these six different looks aim to highlight the versatility + comfort that can be found in an unpredictable forecast.

Vibrant color, exaggerated cuffs, preppy stripes — ooh la la. Under the new creative direction of Brandon Maxwell, these pieces feel really dialed in this season. I was genuinely impressed with the look and feel of each garment.

As we ooh-ed x ahh-ed over the newest drops from these lines, it’s only fair to give a round of applause to the mastermind behind Walmart’s Free Assembly x Scoop collections, Creative Director Brandon Maxwell. While he’s busy reinventing the ready-to-wear apparel that inspired this very lookbook, he’s also setting a new precedent for attainable fashion — celebrating his first anniversary as a major contributor to Walmart’s team after years as a luxury fashion stylist for household names such as Lady Gaga, Michelle Obama, and Jennifer Lawrence — you may even recognize him from the 2019 reboot of Project Runway.

Whether a trusty pair of sneakers or a cozy mock neck sweater, there’s no limit when it comes to the keepsake layers, and the approaching, warmer months are always timely reminders to check up on your closet capstones. If anything, we hope these six different looks provide useful, tasteful advice on dressing up your closet with a direction on where to start. We feel so lucky that projects like this are even a slice of what we get to do, and that’s because of you, our most constant source of inspiration.
