We talked to Wendy L. from CO about NONGSHIM, and here is what she had to say:

Q: Describe the different flavor notes that you taste in the broth, the texture of the noodles, and overall taste of the noodles in the broth.
Wendy L.:  Smelling the flavor packet before putting it into the container, it simply smells "salty". I didn't detect anything "spicy" as when smelling hot spices. For the noodles and dried vegetables in the container, they actually smell fragrant and very tempting. I was not expecting that. After putting the hot water in, it instantly smelt delicious. The aroma was much better and more "homemade" than typical cup-of-noodles that I've had in the past. It could simply be due to size of container but it seems less noodles than other cup soups. Even after the directed time, the noodles were not overly soggy. I would consider them al dente which I greatly enjoyed and seemed maybe it was a better noodle quality. The heat from the spice seemed to overwhelm some of the other flavors. You could tell and smell it was a meat based broth but without reading I couldn't tell you exactly what. I understand this is labeled spicy but it just seemed spicy for spicy sake. When dumped into a bowl, the only rehydrated vegetables noticed were one piece of mushroom and lots of green onion pieces.
Q: How would you choose to enhance your mealtime experience of the Shin Cup (e.g. what would you add to it, or what recipes would you make with it)?
Wendy L.:  I typically pour this type of soup into a bowl, but I like the cup container for convenience of "cooking" at work at a desk. I would most likely add tofu or chicken to the soup. Because I never eat all the soup liquid, it is actually flavorful enough to be used on rice later as a type of stir fry.
Q: What did you like most about the Shin Cup, and how does it differ from other ramen you’ve tried?
Wendy L.:  I liked the noodles and the fact they didn't seem to get as soggy. Even after eating the entire container, the noodles still had a little chew to them which was nice.
Q: Describe how you prepared the Shin Cup, the level of convenience in preparing it, and your thoughts on its ease of preparation on-the-go.
Wendy L.:  I simply used a tea kettle to boil the water. The line in the inside of the cup to fill the water to is a bit hard to see.

Q: If you were recommending this product to someone else, how would you describe the level of heat and general spiciness?
Wendy L.:  This is definitely very spicy. I know several people who wouldn't eat this due to the level of heat.
