Gourmet Spicy Shin Cup

Deliciously spicy and perfectly affordable, the Nongshim Shin Cup is an ideal pick for on-the-go eating. You’ll love the bright, satisfying heat and mix of flavors in this gourmet ramen. It’s a quick-prepare soup that’s just as good at home (with extras like a cracked egg and veggies) as it is on your lunch break (ready in a flash). All you have to do is wait for 3 minutes — stir well + serve. These shin cups are versatile and so simple to make.

We talked to Jennifer K. from TX about NONGSHIM, and here is what she had to say:

Q: Describe the different flavor notes that you taste in the broth, the texture of the noodles, and overall taste of the noodles in the broth.
Jennifer K.:  I really liked the spice level and the broth did have interesting umami undertones along with a distinct beef flavor. It was too salty for my personal taste. I had to let the noodles hydrate longer than the label indicated before eating them. They were standard fare for this type of noodle cup. They did absorb a good deal of flavor though. I might purchase this again and use it as a base for some summer veggie and pasta salad.
“I would highly recommend this for people who enjoy spicy foods.”

Q: How would you choose to enhance your mealtime experience of the Shin Cup (e.g. what would you add to it, or what recipes would you make with it)?
Jennifer K.:  In order to cut back on the sodium, I would use Shin cup as the base of a summer pasta salad. Add in fresh vegetables (broccoli, cherry tomatoes, green onions, red bell pepper)and a touch of olive oil along with some cooked oriechette.
Q: What did you like most about the Shin Cup, and how does it differ from other ramen you’ve tried?
Jennifer K.:  The broth was much more complex than any other ramen cup I've tried. I found the underlying beef and umami flavors delicious.
Q: Describe how you prepared the Shin Cup, the level of convenience in preparing it, and your thoughts on its ease of preparation on-the-go.
Jennifer K.:  I heated it in the microwave, it would be an easy fast lunch. I did need to let the noodles hydrate for a few minutes after cooking it according to the directions.
Q: If you were recommending this product to someone else, how would you describe the level of heat and general spiciness?
Jennifer K.:  I would highly recommend this for people who enjoy spicy foods. I think people who prefer mild spice levels should steer clear!

Thank you for your time, Jennifer K.! We love your feedback.
