Gourmet Spicy Shin Cup

Deliciously spicy and perfectly affordable, the Nongshim Shin Cup is an ideal pick for on-the-go eating. You’ll love the bright, satisfying heat and mix of flavors in this gourmet ramen. It’s a quick-prepare soup that’s just as good at home (with extras like a cracked egg and veggies) as it is on your lunch break (ready in a flash). All you have to do is wait for 3 minutes — stir well + serve. These shin cups are versatile and so simple to make.

We talked to Kate S. from NC about NONGSHIM, and here is what she had to say:

Q: Describe the different flavor notes that you taste in the broth, the texture of the noodles, and overall taste of the noodles in the broth.
Kate S.:  I prepared the noodles according to their microwave directions, as many people will. The broth has a nice red color and smells of spices; it coats the noodles well. The noodles themselves have a nice texture, they are well cooked (aldente) and have a lightly spicy flavor. The spicy flavor of the noodles is not overwhelming as it is with many spicy cup noodle varieties. The broth itself is very warm, an essential, and is where most of the spice lives. It has a pleasant flavor and leaves behind a warmth in the mouth and throat. It is not so spicy that it's unbearable, but just enough to be enjoyable. Overall, this cup noodle is amazing both in texture and flavor of noodles and spiciness. The spices blend well and are not overdone. The broth is delightful and flavorful. This is a product I will definitely purchase again.
Q: How would you choose to enhance your mealtime experience of the Shin Cup (e.g. what would you add to it, or what recipes would you make with it)?
Kate S.:  Next time I would probably add egg and tofu. These are two of my favorite ingredients to pair with ramen-style noodles.
Q: What did you like most about the Shin Cup, and how does it differ from other ramen you’ve tried?
Kate S.:  I love the level of spice. Many spicy ramen varieties I have tried are far too spicy for my taste, but the Shin Cup is perfect! I also love the convenience (but then who doesnt?).
Q: Describe how you prepared the Shin Cup, the level of convenience in preparing it, and your thoughts on its ease of preparation on-the-go.
Kate S.:  I prepared the noodles using the microwave directions. These directions were easy and allowed me to get my drink and sitting area set up while they cooked. These noodles are ideal for a quick lunch at work or home, and are also good when camping and other travel (as I can see the hot water directions, which require boiling water).
Q: If you were recommending this product to someone else, how would you describe the level of heat and general spiciness?
Kate S.:  I would rate the spiciness on a scale of 1 -10 when recommending the product. I would describe the spiciness as a level 4.5, which is an enjoyable level for most people.
“This is a product I will definitely purchase again.”
