My Go-To Turkey Taco Salad Recipe
I’ve mentioned before that as a newlywed, learning to cook for two has been a struggle. But after a year of marriage, we’ve gotten into a rhythm and have found some recipes that we love. We are die-hard Mexican food fans so naturally, we’ve found a few recipes that we like to make on the reg—one of which is Turkey Taco Salad.
If we’re being honest, the thing I love most about this recipe is how easy it is. It takes under 30 minutes but tastes just as good (if not better, honestly) than restaurant taco salad, and it’s so cheap to make.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Azteca Salad Shells — $2.38
- Honeysuckle White Ground Turkey — $8.68
- Old El Paso Taco Seasoning — $0.98
- Shredded Lettuce — $1.76
- Organic Black Beans — $0.98
- Shredded Cheese — $4.48
- Kraft Catalina Dressing — $1.98
Bonus? We’re able to continue using a lot of these ingredients like the shredded lettuce, cheese, black beans, and dressing past just this one recipe. And we have 2 spare shells since they come in a pack of 4, which is perfect because Azteca Salad Shells are a serious hidden gem. We just discovered them recently at Walmart (in the cold case next to the cream cheese and queso) and we buy them all the time. They’re easy to assemble and come out of the oven after about 10 minutes with that crispy restaurant taste, but they aren’t fried.
Just brown your ground turkey, mix in the taco seasoning, add it to your taco shell bowl, and throw your favorite toppings on top! Make some salsa or guac on the side, and enjoy!
