Deceptively Simple And Quick Pasta Sides For Busy Evenings
In Partnership with Kraft Pasta Sides
We talked to Erin from PA and here’s what she had to say:
Erin on Pasta Sides’ Prep
Making the Kraft Pasta Sides was so easy I could have done so in my sleep, though as a general kitchen safety rule I refrain from using stove tops and other sources of ignition unless fully awake! Joking aside, in less than ten minutes one can boil the noodles, sauce them with the included packet of tomato sauce, plate them and cheese them with the included Parmesan. (Disclaimer: despite the current trend of turning every noun into an action verb, describing the last step as "cheesing" the Pasta Sides might have been pushing it.) If you are capable of mastering Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, then you, too, can up your dinner game with this fancier option. Nobody needs to know it was as easy as mac and cheese, especially if you hide the box!
What she Thought of the Flavor
The Tomato Parmesan Rotini, cooked al dente, was hearty and satisfying. The rotini shapes held the rich tomato sauce, which contains diced tomatoes for added texture, quite well. The tastes of the herbs and spices and the tartness of the tomatoes was not at all overwhelmed by the sweetness. Kraft's iconic Parmesan cheese is a natural topping for this.
How Erin Would Make Pasta Sides a Full Meal
I already love the hearty flavors in Kraft Pasta Sides, but I'm sure the addition of fresh basil would enhance this meal. In my opinion this makes a great vegetarian meal on its own, but would also go well with an added protein like saute'd firm tofu. (As prepared, this variety contains 8 grams of protein per serving.) This would also pair nicely with a side salad of dark leafy greens for a healthful, balanced dinner.
Erin’s After Dinner Go-To
After dinner, my family likes to settle in to the homework routine on school nights. Even if someone has nothing assigned that evening, we request that they read a book for the video-game-free time. On nights when dinner was already late due to soccer practice and likely eaten in a hurry from sheer hunger, post-suppertime is a chance to catch up on how everyone's day went. A mere ten minutes of preparation time and a single pot to clean makes this that much easier to pull off!
