A New, Flavorful Spin On an Old Favorite
In Partnership with Kraft Pasta Sides
We talked to Megan from LA and here’s what she had to say:
Megan on Pasta Sides’ Prep
It was relatively quick to cook! It's not as quick as angel hair dishes but that is to be expected with penne noodles. Total prep time with boiling the water, cooking the pasta, draining the noodles, etc is about 20 minutes. Instructions were extremely simple. I also like that the cheese sauce and the garlic and herbs are packaged separately so how much of each is added is discretionary.
What she Thought of the Flavor
I chose the Creamy Alfredo Penne Noodles Pasta Sides. The garlic and herbs are delicious with the cheese sauce. The Alfredo sauce also isn't too over-powering or thick. I also really like that you can dictate how much of the cheese packet is used in case you don't necessarily want to eat the entire serving of cheese for whatever reason, mine being health and diet reasons. The garlic and herbs add a burst of flavor that I love.
How Megan Would Make Pasta Sides a Full Meal
I'd definitely add chicken and possibly some broccoli as well. This would definitely provide a variety of textures and add layers of healthy eating to the otherwise carb heavy meal. It would also make the Pasta Sides more filling especially adding the protein. I think the chicken could possibly be sauteed in some of the extra cheese sauce left over from the noodles and then added afterwards.
Megan’s After Dinner Go-To
I really enjoy watching certain shows with my mom, like The Handmaid's Tale. This show requires your attention and as little background noise as possible. The simple and quick prep and cooking time make it possible to prepare this dish while actively paying attention and not interrupting our only chance to watch shows together. It's quick and easy. It also doesn't require much cleanup either, allowing more time to sit and relax after the meal instead of worrying about a mess in the kitchen.
