An Open Love Letter to LaCroix
It’s hard to decide where to begin. I’ve loved you since the day I met you. In fact, I loved you before you were cool — back when you were just another sparkling water on the shelf.
To be honest, the whole reason I ever found you in the first place is because I was trying to get over someone else — Soda. I admittedly loved its bubbly sensation and its sweet flavor, but I knew the relationship wasn’t healthy — I needed an escape.
That’s when I met you, LaCroix. I was hooked from the very first sip. I remember thinking that, for water, you were shockingly flavorful. You quenched my thirst AND made me feel like I was treating myself to a special rendezvous. I started drinking one a day, then two, and soon I found myself replacing my entire regular intake of water with you.
I know me getting married wasn’t easy on you at first — my husband was skeptical of your value, and even tried to get me to cut back to just one can of you per day. “Why not just drink regular water?” he’d say.
“It’s just not the same,” I’d solemnly reply, shedding a carbonated tear.
Today, he drinks at least one orange LaCroix per day and has lifted all restrictions on my intake of you. Miracles do happen.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, thank you. Thank you for saving me from the grips of sugary sodas. Thank you for quenching my thirst and for making me feel fancy while I do it. Thank you for being you, LaCroix.
