A Weekend in Seaside
It’s no mystery that Seaside is the creme de la creme among it’s neighbors on Florida’s scenic highway, 30A. Known for it’s architectural artistry + divine beaches + bustling central square, it’s a sort of beachside utopia. Seaside began as a beautiful 80 acre stretch of coast, passed from grandfather to grandson, that finally became, in 1981, the little pastel paradise it is today. With so much delicious food to eat + stores to peruse, it can be a touch overwhelming. But don’t worry- we’re here to help.
You can’t head to the sugar white shores of Seaside without a book tucked in your bag, but we’ve got you covered. Standing tall in the heart of Seaside is one of the town’s oldest businesses– Sundog Books. With its creaky floorboards and a cozy kind of organized-chaos vibe, this place is full of charm and incredible reads.
Pro tip: Find your summertime soundtrack at Central Square Records right upstairs!
Bud + Alley’s Pizza Bar
Wood-fired pizza after a long day in the water? Yes please. The laid back spirit of Seaside meets the rustic + sophisticated atmosphere of the trattoria in the best way. Enjoy your pizza and cocktail next to the hustle and bustle of Seaside’s central square, or on the open air back patio, with a delicious view of the gulf of Mexico.
Insider tip: Can’t do dairy? No problem. Ask for vegan cheese on your pie- it’s to die for.
Inspired by open-air markets of Europe, this beachside bazaar is a dream. Each cabana holds something new, from whimsical linen dresses to bohemian handmade goods to beachy home decor, showing off the style + spirit of the Seaside woman. And honestly, what’s better than shopping in the salty ocean air?
Pro tip: Again… the linen dresses.
Leave your shoes under the beach umbrella and stroll up the boardwalk to one of Seaside’s adorable vintage airstream food trucks. Lined up side by side, each of these trailers are serving up something different- cold pressed juice and decadent grilled cheese, to name a couple.
Insider tip: Brie + bacon grilled cheese on cranberry walnut bread from The Meltdown. You’re welcome.
Amavida Coffee + Tea
When it comes to the perfect beach town coffee spot, we found a place that goes above + beyond. Meet Amavida, a Seaside staple, committed to coffee excellence as well as sustainability. Recently named Coffee Roaster of the Year by Roast Magazine, this humble little cafe is a gold mine, + their beans are certified organic! Hop on a bicycle and cruise down for a cold brew [personal fave], and you’ll feel just like a local.
Insider tip: Enjoy your cup of joe in one of Seaside’s many dune-side pavilions, one of which is right behind the cafe [towards the water + a little jaunt to the right]!
