5 Easy Appetizer Recipes
I love hosting people in our home. I love all the big laughs and the craziness of our kids running around and seeing everyone having a good time. I don’t even mind the mess! My husband and I have our post-party cleanup system down. But there is one thing about hosting a get together that stresses me out: cooking. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE eating, but cooking for a large group always has me second-guessing myself. Did I make enough food? Will everyone like this dish? And most importantly, am I going to spend all of my time in the kitchen preparing dishes instead of enjoying a glass of wine with the people I love most?
I decided to revamp my finger food menu so I would have plenty of easy and quick options for feeding my friends and family. And best of all, because they are simple and can all be prepared beforehand, I actually get to enjoy my own party!
Ritz Cracker Appetizers
While cracker appetizers are nothing revolutionary, I love them because there are a MILLION ways to make them! Savory or sweet, you can’t go wrong. Choose your favorite cracker flavor (I personally love the classic Ritz option, but you can always mix it up with their other flavors like honey wheat, caramelized onion, garlic butter or bacon!) then add a topping recipe and you’re good to go! If you’re not sure which toppings to try, I recommend using jalapeño, pomegranate, feta cheese and dill, or a strawberry cheesecake variation!

Bacon Wrapped Cheesy Crackers
If you’re ready to branch out from the tried and true cold cracker appetizer, then amp up your appetizer game with this delicious and simple (only four ingredients!) option. All you need is bacon, Ritz Crackers, the cheese of your choice, and brown sugar! Here’s a full video tutorial on making Bacon Wrapped Cheesy Crackers at home!
Triscuit bites are similar to the cracker option but I think they hold up really well with multiple items placed on top (i.e., they can hold more weight than a cracker). Similar to crackers, they also have a ton of flavor options to choose from (Original with Sea Salt, Fire Roasted Tomato, Roasted Garlic, Sweet Potato and Roasted Onion…the options are endless) Here are some of my favorite topping combos:
Saltine Cracker Toffee (aka, Christmas Crack)
That’s enough of the starters, let’s get to the desserts! No party is complete without a sweet treat and Cracker Toffee is one of my go to make-ahead options. I was skeptical at first, saltines didn’t seem like the typical base for dessert, but I quickly realized I could not have been more wrong. The balance of the salt with the sweet is perfect and I promise your guests will be addicted!
Oreo Truffle Dipped Strawberries
I genuinely think I could eat half a dozen of these and not even blink. Not only do they look really pretty once they’re plated, but they only have four ingredients! Not to mention the main ingredient is a fruit, so that means it counts as a healthy dessert, right?? All you need are Oreos, cream cheese, strawberries, and almond bark. Get the full recipe (and video tutorial!) here.
I could go on and on about these yummy finger foods for days, but the truth is that writing about them has made me hungry, so I should probably stop talking about them and just go make some.
