Lip Service

Much like a signature perfume, a trademark lipstick is something every woman should have. Whether it’s a smart neutral for day or a bold red lip at night, it’s an easy + inexpensive way to play with your personal style. Apply as needed. Change it up as you wish. Have fun with it. We believe a good lipstick should make you feel strong. A perfect red-orange could turn your whole day around. A deep dark merlot [for me, it’s Kevyn Aucoin, Bloodroses!] could remind you that you are 100% that b—- [to quote Lizzo.] Here are a few tried + true favourites from our editorial team. We realize that we have the best job in the world — sampling lipsticks in the name of research. Thank you for indulging us. Muah! xx

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor, “Forever”

PR: I love the look of a matte lip, but how dry they can feel on? Not so much. So, when a ‘buy two, get one free’ sign caught my eye on a quick Walgreens run a few years ago I was skeptical, but my love for bargains won out. Fast forward: this one-time freebie earned itself a customer for life– it’s long lasting, super hydrating, and my wallet doesn’t wince when I buy it.

Trish McEvoy Sheer Lip Color, “Mulberry”

AC: I honestly love the shock factor here — the color looks goth dark in the tube, but goes on beautifully sheer. The buildable formula is also really moisturizing — always great for anything daytime.

Maybelline Matte Color Stay, “Seductress”

BC: It’s the perfect everyday shade and with an all day stay.

NYX Liquid Suede, “Soft Spoken”

JN: One word: matte. It stays on all day.

Glo Lipstick, “Zen”

ERH: It’s an easy nude that goes with any look. And hello, the magnetic tube? Here for it.
